Wayland Baptist University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President of Advancement.  The university seeks an experienced advancement professional who embraces Wayland Baptist’s history and values—and who can move the institution forward through significant fundraising and friend-raising initiatives. This position is an important addition to the university leadership team, and the successful individual will be expected to grow alumni engagement and philanthropy while assuring dynamic public relations and museum service functions.

The Vice President of Advancement reports to and partners with Dr. Bobby Hall, President of Wayland Baptist University.  The Vice President will be a dynamic fundraising leader who is devoted to advancing faith-based higher education.  The successful candidate will be an engaging collaborator who will establish productive working relationships with the President, executive team, members of the Board of Trustees, as well as deans, faculty, and staff.  In partnership with President Hall, this leader will create and execute a strategic fundraising plan to advance the University’s vision and strategic plan.  The successful candidate will build a high-performing advancement program that is focused on increasing philanthropic revenue through individual, corporate, and foundation giving.

A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree is very strongly preferred (in a discipline or professional area represented at WBU).  The attainment of a doctorate or terminal degree will be highly valued.  Eight to ten (8-10) years or more of successful fundraising experience is preferred with two (2) years at a senior administrative level with successful experience in the areas of supervision of employees, budgetary oversight, strategic planning and accountability.  Experience in human relations and leadership is essential as well as being a practicing Christian (preferably Baptist or similar faith heritage).
