Message from the AFP-NM Chapter President
Welcome to AFP!
It is a privilege to serve as the 2017 President of the New Mexico Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-NM). I am honored to serve with an inspiring group of development professionals who are deeply committed to the advancement of philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which we fulfill this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and advocacy.
Fundraising professionals are a key part of many of our local organizations serving New Mexico. Our professionals strive every day to bring resources to our community benefits organizations that provide a variety of programs and services to promote the welfare of others.
Here you will not only find job listings, but vast resources for professional development, scholarships for conferences, and research on every aspect of philanthropy from ethics to major gift campaigns to planned giving. It is a place to network and advocate for important issues impacting today's nonprofits. It is where you will find experts in the field of fundraising who mentor, cheer and support the profession and its vital workforce.
Since 1960, with 230 chapters and as an international organization, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has inspired global change and supported efforts that generated over $1 trillion. AFP's nearly 30,000 individual and organizational members raise over $100 billion annually, equivalent to one-third of all charitable giving in North America and millions more around the world.
I look forward to seeing you at our monthly luncheons and hope you might be inspired to get involved, join a committee, bring a friend and attend monthly luncheons, Funders' Forum and National Philanthropy Day. Don't hesitate to let us know what's important to you and how AFP-NM can serve you in your professional development.
2017 AFP New Mexico Chapter President
