John Rivas, Treasurer
John Rivas, MRE, CFRE, currently serves as Executive Director of the New Mexico Methodist Foundation, a ministry of TMF. After leading the foundation to unify with TMF in 2014, John is now responsible for providing oversight of the foundation's vision, mission and ministry to churches and extended ministries of the New Mexico Conference of the United Methodist Church. TMF serves the five United Methodist Conferences in Texas and New Mexico and manages assets over $511 million.
Before his appointment, John served as Vice-President of Development for the Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, Florida and led a team of eighteen fundraising staff and was responsible for raising the operating budget of $9 million a year in private donor support, as well as a $25 million permanent endowment. While at the Children's Home he coordinated the first-ever statewide $15 million capital campaign to construct a second campus for abandoned, neglected and abused children on a 300-acre Youth Ranch in North Florida.
Prior to his service at the Children's Home he worked as director of development for The United Methodist Church Foundation in Nashville, TN, NMSU's College of Health and Social Science in Las Cruces, NM, Community of Hope in Washington, DC, and the P.F. Bresee Foundation in Los Angeles, CA. He has held the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation since 2001 and is currently taking post-graduate classes in family philanthropy at LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA having graduated from Southern Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary.
